Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview broadcast on government-friendly Channel 14 television that he had been dealing with Iran for about 40 years.
Netanyahu said it had taken him a long time to convince Israel’s security establishment to confront Iran directly and to persuade the United States to adopt the same approach. The Israeli prime minister maintained that he had achieved this by appearing on American television for approximately 1,000 hours.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi highlighted the differences between Netanyahu’s statements in Hebrew and English in a post on his social media account.
Araghchi said Netanyahu had proudly stated in his Hebrew speech that the US administration had been led into a war against Iran on Israel’s behalf and had explained that he influenced American public opinion through approximately 1,000 hours of airtime on American television.
The Iranian minister said Netanyahu praised US President Donald Trump’s leadership in his English-language remarks. Araghchi called Netanyahu a “snake” at the end of his post.
