Oil companies in Qatar have restored their operations to full capacity following military tensions in the region. Drilling for new wells at the offshore Al-Shahin field has also picked up pace.
According to industry sources, drilling activities are proceeding at an intense pace. Companies aim to drill more wells than initially planned and increase capacity.
Production Chain Reactivated
Since oil production begins immediately after drilling is completed, opening wells is critically important for the sector. Therefore, production and drilling need to progress simultaneously.
During the military movements in Iran, Qatar’s oil and natural gas companies had to halt operations at many fields for security reasons. Work at offshore facilities, in particular, had temporarily slowed down.
Exports Recovering but Process Not Yet Complete
According to sources, hydrocarbon shipments from Qatar began improving following an agreement to end hostilities between Iran and the United States. However, export flows have not yet fully returned to normal.
As oil and gas shipments resume, some waiting tankers have started departing from the Persian Gulf. The effective reopening of the Strait of Hormuz has eased export routes.
An official noted that it will take time for the sector to return to its previous state and that recovery is progressing gradually. Companies are undergoing restructuring both in production and shipment operations.
This transformation in Qatar’s energy sector highlights the impact of regional security tensions on commercial flows. Continued improvement is necessary for activities to fully stabilize.
