Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his accompanying delegation landed in the northeastern city of Mashhad, Iran, ahead of planned talks with senior Iranian officials.
Naqvi was officially received at Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport in Mashhad by Gholamhossein Mozaffari, the Governor of Khorasan Razavi Province.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Baghaei confirmed that the Pakistani Interior Minister's visit is a direct continuation of Islamabad's ongoing mediation and diplomatic initiatives regarding the Iran-US dialogue.
According to Baghaei, during his official visit, Naqvi held separate meetings and consultations with his Iranian counterpart, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
These diplomatic contacts took place after the presidents of Iran and the United States formally signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday.
