Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said the Mecca Alliance between Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has a defensive purpose, adding that alliance forces would not cross into Yemen to launch attacks against the Houthis.
The defensive scope of the Mecca Alliance
Khan said the alliance is an organization aimed at protecting the three countries against attacks. He said the forces would be used to defend Saudi Arabian territory and protect the country's sovereignty.
Khan said the three countries had agreed on protecting Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and territorial integrity through deterrence. He added that the organization's responsibility was to assess the threat posed by existing military forces and resources and to act in line with its mandate.
Pakistani forces in Saudi Arabia
Khan said Pakistan has a significant number of troops and resources in Riyadh, adding that the Pakistan Armed Forces have carried out various missions in Saudi Arabia since 1982.

Khan said these missions included logistical support and training activities.
A joint platform with Türkiye
Khan said political and military relations between Türkiye and Pakistan are longstanding, adding that the Mecca Alliance Agreement provides a joint platform to strengthen cooperation among the three countries.
