Mohsen Rezaei, one of Iran's senior security officials, issued a stern warning to neighboring countries over US economic pressure on Iran.
Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said during a program on Iranian state television that regional countries should not join the United States' economic war. He said that if these countries cooperated with Washington, their interests would be targeted.
Rezaei said Iran did not want to expand the war, but that if neighboring countries cooperated with the United States in the economic war, they would strike those countries' interests.
Rezaei also said that if support was given to the United States, the Persian Gulf would be closed as the Strait of Hormuz is. He said they would not allow oil to pass through the region in such a case.
The Iranian official also described US President Donald Trump's policies as “reckless” and argued that these policies were increasing the desire to acquire nuclear weapons around the world.
