A video has circulated widely showing hundreds of young people on a Paris street singing in unison French singer Charles Aznavour’s famous song “Emmenez-moi” (“Take Me Away”), as Palestinian flags are raised and some participants wear keffiyehs over their shoulders.
The footage was shot on Rue de Lappe in the Bastille district, known for its cafes and nightlife. When it was filmed is unknown, and it could not be verified whether it was recorded during the student protests or at another gathering.
France gripped by student protests

The video’s spread comes as France has seen, since mid-September, a wave of protests led by high school and university students over overcrowded classrooms, run-down school buildings and teacher shortages.
According to estimates reported by Agence France-Presse, between 266,000 and 450,000 people took part in a national day of mobilization on Oct. 6, including between 56,000 and 100,000 in Paris alone.
Released in 1967, “Emmenez-moi” is among the best-known works of Aznavour, the French artist of Armenian descent who died in 2018 at the age of 94.
