Türkiye’s ambassador to Cameroon, Volkan Öskiper, on Sunday attended the closing ceremony of the CATA Central Africa talent tournament, which brought together young players from football teams and academies, the Turkish Embassy in Yaoundé said.
Photos released by the embassy showed Öskiper addressing the audience before joining several sports figures and tournament officials on the podium to hang medals on the winning players.
A growing Turkish presence in Cameroon

Öskiper took up his post as Türkiye’s ambassador to Cameroon in early 2025. The embassy makes a point of taking part in sporting and cultural events in the country as part of efforts to strengthen ties between the Turkish and Cameroonian peoples.
Relations between Ankara and Yaoundé have developed markedly in recent years, particularly in trade and infrastructure, with estimates from last year putting Turkish investment in Cameroon at around $900 million.
