Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan reappointed Nikol Pashinyan as prime minister by a decree published on Sunday. The appointment came just hours after Pashinyan's resignation.
Earlier on the same day, the government headed by Pashinyan resigned as the newly elected parliament held its first session. Pashinyan had explained that, in accordance with the constitution, the president would accept the resignation and the outgoing ministers would stay on until a new government was formed.
Pashinyan's Civil Contract Party had won 61 of the 105 seats in the recent parliamentary elections, securing a majority on its own.
