Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed options for developing cooperation between the two countries in the economic, investment, security and defense fields during their meetings in Doha.
The meeting at Lusail Palace focused on deepening the strategic partnership between Qatar and France. According to a statement from the Qatar Emir’s Court, the leaders assessed broader cooperation opportunities in security, defense and other key areas, in addition to bilateral relations.
Sheikh Tamim expressed his pleasure at Macron’s visit, describing it as a sign of the strength of relations between the two countries. The Qatari emir said he hoped closer cooperation would be established in various fields.
Macron reiterated France’s determination to expand its partnership with Qatar. The leaders also met before the official talks to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

Macron’s visit to Doha was part of his Gulf tour. The French president arrived in Qatar from Bahrain, while Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates are also included in the tour itinerary.
The French presidency said the visits, taking place from October 19 to 21, aim to strengthen strategic and economic partnerships with the Gulf countries. The statement said the tour also seeks to contribute to efforts to restore regional stability and support freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Macron’s visit took place at a time of rising regional tensions following the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks across the region, effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, and Washington later imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports.
