The Israeli army announced that the 401st Armored Brigade, which served in southern Lebanon for 8 months, has withdrawn from the area. The brigade, under the command of the 91st Division, conducted defensive and offensive operations along the border line.
The army statement said the brigade served to eliminate threats against Israel. The Israeli army claimed that during the operations it destroyed more than 1,200 Hezbollah infrastructure elements and destroyed underground tunnels hundreds of meters long.
It was also claimed that more than 600 combat vehicles were seized and more than 60 Hezbollah members were killed. Brigade Commander Colonel Yoav Schneider said, 'The successes in Lebanon came at a heavy cost; we lost both our brigade fighters and our combat team personnel.'
According to Israeli army data, 9 officers and soldiers from the brigade have lost their lives in southern Lebanon since March 2026. Many soldiers were wounded, including former brigade commander Colonel Meir Biderman; Biderman was seriously wounded in a drone attack last May.
Israel has continued its attacks on Lebanon since March 2. According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, 4,333 people have been killed and 12,236 wounded in these attacks. The Tel Aviv administration continues its attacks despite the framework agreement signed on June 26 under US mediation. The agreement envisages Israel's gradual withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory, the deployment of the Lebanese army in the area, and the disarmament of armed groups, primarily Hezbollah.
The Israeli army had previously announced on July 12 that the 551st Paratroopers Brigade, under the 91st Division, had also withdrawn from southern Lebanon after a two-month operation.
