Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the country will mandatorily reduce consumption of electricity, gas, gasoline, water and other energy resources.
To cut gasoline use, Pezeshkian called for spreading a culture of not driving at least one day a week, saying it should start with the government, state institutions and state companies before becoming a broad public movement.

He said the "car-free Tuesdays" initiative aims to reduce air pollution, traffic and gasoline consumption. Iran has faced electricity and gas shortages during peak periods for years under the pressure of sanctions.
