Qatar accused Iran of attacking a Qatari-flagged oil tanker in a critical maritime lane near the Strait of Hormuz. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majid al-Ansari stated that the attack on the tanker named 'Er-Rukeyyat' was unacceptable and violated international law.
In a statement on social media, Ansari emphasized that this act threatened the security of international maritime transport and global energy supplies. Qatar said it held Iran responsible, stating, "We hold Iran responsible for this attack and its potential legal consequences."
Doha demanded that Tehran immediately halt all actions affecting regional security and cease threatening global energy supply.
Meanwhile, Iranian state television reported that the Iranian Navy struck a tanker that did not respond to warnings. Citing Iranian sources, the report claimed that the 'Er-Rukeyyat' tanker planned to travel the Oman route with US Navy support, but was targeted after multiple warnings were ignored.
