Retired Israeli Maj. Gen. Yitzhak Brik said Israel is “in a much worse situation than before” since the fall of the Assad regime, adding: “We’ll miss Assad.” Speaking on a podcast, he asked, “Who entered Syria?” and answered, “ISIS entered.”
Without naming anyone, Brik described “a murderer who plays Mr. Nice Guy and cons the United States and the whole world,” pointing to what his people did to the Druze and the Alawites and calling it “a criminal gang that enters and takes control of the country.”
“Even worse, the Turks are sending forces into Syria today, and they see themselves as rulers. They’re right on Israel’s border,” Brik said, claiming that President Erdoğan says Israel has no right to exist and likens Netanyahu to Hitler.
Brik, a former soldiers’ complaints commissioner in the Israeli army, has previously argued that the Turks have replaced the Iranians in Syria and that the new leadership could prove more dangerous to Israel than the Assad regime, which fell in December 2024.
