Russian experts have begun returning to their duties at Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. Rosatom Director General Likhachev told journalists in Moscow that the first five engineering and technical personnel had arrived at the plant and resumed their work.
Likhachev said the number of Russian experts working at the plant had risen to 25. Rosatom aims to gradually increase this number to 100.
Return plan for evacuated experts
The goal is to send all experts previously evacuated from Iran to the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant as soon as possible. The full restoration of staffing to its previous level depends on agreements between the United States and Iran on a ceasefire being finalized.
Construction continues on power units 2 and 3
Work continues on the plant’s new power units 2 and 3, which are being built with Russia’s participation. Construction of the main and auxiliary buildings for these units is also continuing.
Rosatom evacuated plant workers from Iran in groups via Armenia because of military risks. Before the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, 639 Rosatom employees were working at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
