Satellite images comparing Rafah in southern Gaza in 2022 and 2026 show the vast destruction caused by Israeli attacks, with neighborhoods once packed with homes now appearing largely as bare ground.

Imagery captured by Airbus in February 2026 and published on Google Earth in June went viral in late September. Bellingcat said newer Planet Labs images taken in September show further demolitions near Rafah’s municipal stadium, while the Tal as-Sultan neighborhood has been almost entirely wiped out.

According to UN data from August 2026, about 82 percent of structures in Gaza have been damaged and two thirds destroyed. The Israeli military describes the demolitions as part of "demilitarization" efforts.
