The Sudanese army announced that its air defense systems had neutralized an FH-95 UAV in North Kordofan state in the south of the country.
In its statement, the army said the incident took place on Sunday in the El Kukeyti area of North Kordofan and described the UAV as an "enemy" aircraft. The statement provided no information on which side had launched the UAV.
Clashes continue in the Kordofan states
Clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have continued in the North, West and South Kordofan states since October 25, 2025.
Sudanese authorities and human rights organizations accuse the Rapid Support Forces of targeting civilian facilities. The Rapid Support Forces maintain that their operations are intended to protect civilians.
Uses of the FH-95 UAV
The Chinese-made FH-95 UAV was designed for reconnaissance, surveillance and electronic warfare missions. Its endurance exceeds 12 hours.
The Sudanese army had also announced that it shot down three UAVs of the same type in North Kordofan state in August 2026.
The war in Sudan began in April 2023 following disputes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces over the integration of the military institution. According to estimates by the United Nations and international organizations, tens of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict and approximately 13 million have been displaced.
