The emergency department of El Obeid Hospital was targeted in a drone attack on Wednesday in Sudan’s North Kordofan state. The Sudan Doctors Network announced that two people were killed after being struck by shrapnel from the attack.
The network alleged that the Rapid Support Forces were behind the attack. The RSF command had not responded to the accusation as of 10:55 GMT.
Drone attacks also hit other cities
Wednesday morning’s drone attacks also targeted Bahri and Omdurman in central Khartoum, the capital, as well as Atbara and Damer in River Nile state.
The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the targeting of civilians, civilian facilities and health services in several states by drone attacks on Wednesday and Thursday. The network called for civilian residential areas and civilian facilities not to be targeted.
The network said the attacks had caused deaths and damaged civilian health services and infrastructure, describing them as violations of international humanitarian law. It also called on the international community to pressure the Rapid Support Forces’ leadership to halt attacks against civilians and civilian objects, protect the population and hold those responsible accountable.
War and displacement in Sudan
Fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces has continued in the North, West and South Kordofan states since October 2025.
Tens of thousands of people have been killed and approximately 13 million displaced in the war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which has continued since April 2023.
