As part of efforts related to transitional justice in Syria, an international cooperation call was made to extradite people accused of committing crimes during the Assad regime who are currently outside the country.
Syria’s Deputy Minister of Justice Mustafa Qasim said the international community must establish genuine cooperation with Syria to ensure transitional justice.
Committee established for wanted individuals
Qasim announced that a committee had been established to bring back to Syria people who fled abroad and are accused of committing crimes. The body, named the “Extradition Committee for Criminals,” will work with the International Criminal Police Organization to secure the return of wanted individuals.

Assets belonging to Syrians abroad will be tracked
The Syrian administration is also working to recover assets belonging to Syrians that were taken abroad. As part of these efforts, people outside Syria who manage those assets are expected to be monitored.
Special application offices for victims’ relatives
Special offices will be established to receive complaints concerning crimes committed during the transitional justice period.
Qasim said the offices are intended to make it easier for victims and their relatives to file applications. He added that international cooperation would accelerate the completion of work related to transitional justice.
