Syrian Navy Commander Brig. Gen. Mohammed al-Saud and his delegation visited the Turkish Naval Academy and the Istanbul Shipyard Command on Monday and held bilateral talks, Türkiye’s Defense Ministry said.
Al-Saud is in Türkiye as the official guest of Turkish Naval Forces Commander Adm. Ercüment Tatlıoğlu.
A return visit after Latakia

The visit comes about three months after Tatlıoğlu sailed into Syria’s port of Latakia aboard the frigate TCG Istanbul on July 13, 2026, where he was welcomed by al-Saud and the two delegations held talks.
That was the first visit by the Turkish Navy to Latakia since the start of the war in Syria and was seen as a sign of growing military cooperation between Ankara and Damascus.
