The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) launched a support project for the beekeeping sector in Anbar province, western Iraq, to alleviate the damage caused by conflicts. As part of the project, 200 beekeepers in the region were provided with basic beekeeping equipment and honey extractors.
TİKA Iraq Director Ömer Faruk Mercan stated that the aid aims to strengthen beekeeping activities in Anbar. Mercan said, 'We believe that developing Anbar's great potential in beekeeping will have a positive impact on both the Anbar and Iraqi economies.'
Anbar Agriculture Director Ammar Salih noted that the agriculture and beekeeping sectors in the region suffered serious damage due to the conflicts, and expressed his satisfaction with TİKA's support.
Anbar beekeeper Imad Cerad said, 'We thank our valued neighbor Turkey and TİKA for their support and assistance in alleviating the damage caused to the beekeeping sector by the war.'
