US President Donald Trump announced that he had cancelled the planned military strike on Iran under certain conditions. In a statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that Iran and other Middle Eastern countries had requested time for an agreement that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end Iran's nuclear threat.
"Upon this request, I agreed to cancel the attack for the sake of the world's future and for Iran to remain successful and prosperous, but on condition that an agreement is reached quickly," Trump said, also stressing that his country is "ready to act at any moment."
The US President said that Israel also supported the decision to suspend the attack, and that this decision remains contingent on "reaching an agreement quickly."
In another statement last Friday, Trump had said they would deliver "blows so hard they cannot withstand" to Iran, and claimed that the war with Iran was "going very well" for the US.
The US and Iran had exchanged military strikes over a 13-day period until last July. While Washington hit targets inside Iran, Tehran targeted American military facilities in Arab countries including Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
