The average diesel price in the United States rose above $6 per gallon for the first time last week amid supply shortages. The price reached a record $6.23, according to data from the American Automobile Association.
U.S. President Trump said the main reason for the rise in diesel prices worldwide was largely the Russia-Ukraine war, not Iran. Trump also said Ukraine and Russia had agreed not to strike each other’s energy targets.
Trump said oil prices would also fall rapidly after the military conflict with Iran ends, adding that the process would not last very long. Trump said prices other than oil had fallen sharply and blamed the administration of former U.S. President Joe Biden for price increases in the United States.
Trump said oil prices were higher during Biden’s presidency than they are now. He also claimed that his administration had prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
In another post, Trump said oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz were continuing. He said countries that do not help the United States should pay the U.S. costs once the conflict ends and that the United States would make them do so.
