U.S. President Donald Trump strongly criticized the leaking of information about a planned attack on Iran and said those who shared the information should be shot. Trump made the remarks Wednesday at a campaign rally in Arizona.
Trump said they had previously sent B-2 bombers to attack Iran, but details of the operation were leaked to the public before the strike. Saying the leaks were published by media organizations such as CNN and The New York Times, Trump argued that the Iranians learned about the attack as a result.

Trump said, "Someone leaked the information. These people should go to prison and stay there for the rest of their lives. But I think those who leaked this information should be shot. In the past, we used to shoot people who leaked information."
Trump said the leaked information included the time the aircraft were scheduled to depart from Missouri, 12:07, as well as the time they were expected to reach the target. He said such a situation was unacceptable.

Trump said they had been forced to abandon plans to carry out the B-2 bombers’ attack that same day and conducted the operation two days later. Arguing that there should be no tolerance for those who leak information about military activities, Trump said such individuals endangered U.S. national security.
The United States carried out attacks targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities in June 2025. The United States and Israel also launched a war against Iran on February 28, 2026.
