Türkiye's ambassador to Damascus, Nuh Yılmaz, met with Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed al-Saleh, who expressed his appreciation for Türkiye's contributions to disaster management in Syria.
The two sides discussed implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and Syria's Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management during Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi's visit to Damascus on June 30. They agreed to increase the frequency of visits and contacts in this field.

Cooperation on mine clearance
Given the particular importance Minister al-Saleh attaches to mine clearance in Syria, the two sides discussed deepening communication between relevant Turkish institutions and the Syrian authorities in this field.
Yılmaz said the two countries were determined to continue working together, recognizing that disasters and humanitarian crises know no borders and that building a safe Syria would contribute to regional stability. Al-Saleh is one of the most prominent figures in humanitarian work in Syria, having previously led the Syrian Civil Defence organization, known as the White Helmets.
