UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa expressed their determination after the meeting to continue working together in the face of shared challenges and to strengthen cooperation.
The meeting took place in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday during the Bahrain king’s visit to the UAE, the duration of which was not disclosed. The visit included Abu Dhabi, but no additional information was provided about the city where the meeting took place.
Economic and development cooperation
The two leaders reviewed the fraternal ties between their countries and areas of mutual cooperation. They said that strengthening cooperation in the economic and development fields would serve the two countries’ shared priorities and interests.
They also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest. Developments in the Middle East and efforts to enhance regional stability and security were among the main topics of the meeting.
Iranian attacks and regional developments
The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain were among the countries targeted in attacks carried out by Iran. Iran said the attacks targeted American interests in the region.
The attacks took place after the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28. Some of the attacks damaged civilian targets and critical facilities; the countries targeted condemned the attacks, which caused civilian deaths and injuries.
After reaching a memorandum of understanding in mid-June, the parties continued negotiations to reach a final agreement.
