The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that two tankers owned by its national oil company, ADNOC, were attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
WAM, the UAE's official news agency, reported that no one was killed or injured in the incident.
UAE calls on Iran to act
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as an explicit violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasizes freedom of navigation and rejects attacks on commercial vessels.
The ministry said that attacks on commercial maritime transport, as well as the use of the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of pressure or economic coercion, directly threaten regional stability, public safety and global energy security.
While calling on Iran to halt similar actions, the UAE stressed that the Strait of Hormuz must be fully and unconditionally reopened.
