A video broadcast by the LBCI channel in Lebanon depicting Hezbollah leaders and fighters as characters from the popular "Angry Birds" game was described by Hezbollah as "insults and cheap attacks." In the video, Shia cleric and Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem is represented by bird characters, while the Israeli army is shown as green pigs. Hezbollah stated that the political discourse of the video was lowered to a humiliating level and called on its supporters not to engage in the debate. On social media, some Hezbollah supporters shared insults directed at Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai, the highest Christian authority in Lebanon. Following these developments, many official and religious leaders sent messages of support to Rai. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attacks on religious leaders, emphasizing the importance of avoiding personal insults and national solidarity during the country's current difficult conditions. Although freedom of expression in Lebanon is broader compared to other Arab countries, criticisms of political and religious figures sometimes lead to debates. Hezbollah launched rocket attacks on Israel in March with Iranian support, resulting in thousands of deaths in these conflicts. The release of the video caused religious and political sensitivities in the country to resurface.
