Eight suspects were arrested in Istanbul during an operation targeting ISIS's financial sources. The operation was carried out by the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
According to officials, money transfers related to the suspects were examined. The transfers included explanations such as "aid," "for a needy sister," "rent assistance," and "needs."
The amounts transferred to many individuals with criminal records were also under investigation, though these assessments are being considered within the scope of the investigation and not as definitive judgments.
Simultaneous raids were conducted at identified addresses in Istanbul. During the operation, 1 unlicensed firearm, 2 blank-firing guns, numerous sharp weapons, and digital materials were seized.
Procedures regarding the detained suspects are ongoing, and the digital materials are being examined to uncover money flows and connections.
