Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf argued that the credibility of the ongoing agreement process with the US has been undermined following Israel's attacks on the Lebanese capital Beirut and areas in the south of the country.
Ghalibaf said in a statement on his account on the US-based X platform that Israel's attacks on Dahiyeh show that Washington either lacks the will to fulfill its commitments or does not have the power to do so.
Ghalibaf stated that the 'bad cop, good cop' games are over, and if there is neither will nor capacity to fulfill commitments, then there can be no talk of continuing the negotiation process.
Asadi: Attacks will not go unanswered
An assessment of the same developments also came from Brigadier General Mohammad Jafar Asadi, the Deputy Inspector General of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the war-fighting unit of Iran’s Armed Forces.
Asadi told the Fars News Agency that Israel's attacks on the Dahiyeh area of Beirut will not go unanswered.
It was reported that at least 8 people lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes on Beirut and southern Lebanon.
The attacks in the region have hardened the messages of Iranian officials toward both the US and Israel. Ghalibaf’s statement highlighted doubts about the negotiation process, while Asadi’s remarks kept the expectation of a military response on the agenda.
