Ambassador Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the former secretary-general of the Arab League, warned of the potential consequences of the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence technologies, stressing that this technology represents a major transformation in humanity's future and requires international cooperation to ensure its use is regulated and does not get out of control.
In a television interview on the “On My Responsibility” program on Sada El-Balad channel, Aboul Gheit said artificial intelligence had become both an impressive and concerning phenomenon, stressing that it should not become merely an arena for competition between the United States and China.

He added that what is needed is an international path based on cooperation, oversight and regulatory safeguards, noting that a limited number of executives at major artificial intelligence companies now wield broad influence and an increasing impact on people's lives.
Aboul Gheit cited estimates concerning Anthropic's market value, saying that the scale of the money and influence accumulated by technology companies requires attention to the nature of the ongoing transformations.
