Israeli forces detained 276 Palestinian children in the first six months of 2026. A report by the Advocacy Center for Palestinian Prisoners found that about 370 Palestinian children are being held in Israeli prisons.
The report said most of the children are held in Megiddo and Ofer prisons, while the total number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees held by Israel exceeded 9,400 as of early August.
A repeated practice in the West Bank and East Jerusalem
The report said the detention of children is not limited to isolated incidents. It described the practice as a repeated part of the detention campaigns carried out in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Detention without charges
The report also noted that Israel continues to use administrative detention. This practice allows Palestinians to be held without being charged or tried, on the basis of undisclosed evidence and for renewable periods.
Palestinian and international human rights organizations have repeatedly said that detainees, including children, are held in harsh conditions and deprived of adequate food and medical care.
