Ahmed El Awady posts video of presidential guards at BRICS summit

Egyptian actor Ahmed El Awady posted a video of several presidential guards in a hotel lobby in India, saying it was filmed while Presidents Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Vladimir Putin were there to attend the BRICS summit.

Egyptian actor Ahmed El Awady posted on his Instagram account a video filmed in the lobby of a hotel, showing several presidential guards in formal suits monitoring the area with discipline. In the accompanying caption, El Awady explained that the video was filmed while Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin were in India.

El Awady accompanied the video with a humorous phrase written in Arabic and English: “The presidential guards’ looks search you without touching you,” referring to the guards’ intense stares and constant vigilance.

BRICS summit in New Delhi

India hosted the 18th BRICS summit on September 12 and 13 at the Bharat Mandapam Centre in New Delhi under the theme “Building for resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability,” with the participation of leaders from member states, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

President al-Sisi arrived in New Delhi on September 11 to attend the summit, the first hosted by India since Egypt joined the group in early 2024. Putin arrived the same day for a three-day visit that included bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
