A public opinion poll on the general election planned in Israel for October 27 found that parties opposed to Netanyahu could win more seats than the coalition parties, although they would not secure a majority in the Knesset.

According to the poll’s projection, parties in the opposition bloc could win 54 seats in the 120-seat Knesset. The parties in Netanyahu’s coalition are expected to take 50 seats.
The majority needed to form a government is not emerging
Parties representing Palestinian citizens of Israel were projected to win 12 seats, while the Reservists Party, which belongs to neither bloc, was projected to win 4.
This distribution means that neither Netanyahu’s coalition nor the opposition bloc would reach the 61 seats needed to form a government.

Eisenkot leads Netanyahu
Among respondents asked whom they preferred as prime minister, 48% backed Netanyahu’s rival, Gadi Eisenkot. The share of respondents who wanted Netanyahu to serve as prime minister was 40%.
