Türkiye has released a new promotional film for the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), hosted by the southern Turkish city of Antalya under the slogan “Listen to the climate before the ice melts.”
A skater named “Climate”
The approximately 90-second film tells the story of a young Turkish skater named “İklim,” a word that means “climate” in Turkish. She performs at an international competition before a crowd waving Turkish flags. As the performance intensifies, the ice cracks and shatters beneath her skates, sending her into dark water. The film ends with the words “The climate is changing!” and a reminder that more than 190 countries will meet in Türkiye.

91 heads of state have confirmed attendance
Türkiye’s Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum said 91 heads of state had so far notified officials of their participation in the conference. He expects representatives from 196 countries, around 300 ministers and up to 1.5 million visitors to attend.
The conference is scheduled to take place from November 9 to 20 at the Antalya Expo Center.
