Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran was not seeking a temporary ceasefire during the war and that its goal was to bring the war to a definitive end.
Araghchi said temporary ceasefires would lay the groundwork for new conflicts, arguing that such agreements would lead to the war breaking out again.
Cooperation for lasting peace in the Persian Gulf
Araghchi said lasting peace in the Persian Gulf would not be possible without establishing comprehensive regional cooperation.
Araghchi said the regional security approach should be based on a shared understanding of security, adding that correcting economic imbalances should also be one of the fundamental elements of the new security order.
Qatar and Pakistan’s mediation role
Araghchi said Qatar and Pakistan had played an effective mediating role between Iran and Washington, adding that relations between Tehran and Doha had reached a very positive stage.
Pezeshkian’s regional diplomacy initiatives
Araghchi said President Masoud Pezeshkian had taken an active role in developing relations with regional countries and strengthening diplomatic dialogue.
Araghchi said Pezeshkian’s regional visits had a significant impact on developing relations with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and Azerbaijan. He added that a telephone call between Pezeshkian and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had completely changed the course of relations between the two countries and opened a new page.
Araghchi said the gains achieved through dialogue and diplomacy went far beyond those possible through political tensions and conflict.
