Asian Football Confederation backs Infantino for FIFA presidency
The Asian Football Confederation announced its support for Gianni Infantino in the FIFA presidential election scheduled for March 2027. Its president, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, said all 46 member associations support his candidacy.

Asian Football Confederation President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa said during a federation meeting in Tokyo that all 46 member national associations support Infantino’s candidacy for a new term.
Infantino, 56, who has led FIFA since 2016, is seeking a third term. The deadline for submitting candidacies is November 18. His candidacy also has the backing of the African and Oceania football confederations, and he is currently the only candidate in the race.
