Virgil van Dijk, the Dutch captain of English club Liverpool, praised the role his former teammate, Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, played in developing young player Rio Ngumoha before Salah left the club at the end of last season, ESPN reported.
Van Dijk praised Ngumoha after the youngster excelled in Liverpool’s thrilling 4-3 Champions League victory over Spanish side Villarreal at Anfield. The young player set up two goals that helped his team come back after falling two goals behind.

Van Dijk explained that Ngumoha, who usually plays on the left wing, has delivered an impressive performance on the right this season. He attributed that in part to the youngster benefiting from Salah’s experience after the Egyptian played in that position for years, calling it extremely important.
The Liverpool captain acknowledged his responsibility for the team’s difficult start after his mistake allowed Villarreal to open the scoring, but stressed that the most important thing was the team’s successful comeback and victory.
