Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said he would continue implementing his plan to send Palestinians in Gaza to other countries.
In a post on his X account on Saturday, Ben-Gvir said he would not abandon the plan he presented to the public two days earlier and would continue working to advance it. The plan calls for all Palestinians in Gaza to be sent to other countries under the name of "voluntary migration."
Number of people targeted for removal from Gaza
Under the plan Ben-Gvir announced at a news conference on Thursday, a special Israeli ministry would be established to oversee its implementation. The plan also includes providing funding for resettlement packages to countries that accept them.
The plan targets the removal of 250,000 Palestinians from Gaza in the first year, with the number expected to rise to approximately 1.11 million within three years and 1.86 million within seven years. More than 2.2 million Palestinians live in the Gaza Strip.
Other objectives announced by Ben-Gvir
In the same post, Ben-Gvir also said he aimed to strengthen Israeli sovereignty over the Haram al-Sharif, known as Al-Aqsa Mosque, impose harsher prison conditions on Palestinian detainees and implement the death penalty for "terrorists."
The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday that Israeli authorities and settlers had increased their violations against Islamic holy sites in August. The ministry said 26 incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque had taken place.
Ben-Gvir also claimed that he had been the target of 10 assassination attempts because of his policies and that his family had been threatened.
