British activist Finn Joffin allegedly detained by armed Israelis in West Bank
British activist Finn Joffin, who was in Umm al-Khair in the southern West Bank to show solidarity with Palestinians, was allegedly detained by armed Israelis. Israeli police say Joffin is being held on a sexual assault charge.
Attacks threatening Palestinians’ lives and property in the West Bank have increased since October 2023. Masafer Yatta in the south of the region is among the areas where such attacks occur frequently.
British activist Finn Joffin, who was in the Umm al-Khair community in the area, was allegedly forcibly detained by armed Israelis. Joffin was in the area to show solidarity with Palestinians.
Footage shared on social media shows several armed individuals holding Joffin by the arms and taking the activist to an unknown location. Joffin’s whereabouts remained unknown for some time after the footage was published.
Israeli police say Joffin is being held on a sexual assault charge. Other footage published on social media shows the activist blocking the way with their body to prevent an Israeli child from passing through a wire fence.
