Duran addresses international community over Gaza
Burhanettin Duran, head of Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications, said in a statement posted on NSosyal on September 9 that Türkiye would continue defending the just cause of the Palestinian people. Duran said all necessary efforts would continue to establish justice and peace in the region.
Pointing to the ongoing destruction and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Duran said it was an urgent responsibility for the international community to demonstrate similar determination. Duran called for concrete steps to be taken against Israel’s unlawful policies and said the international community needed to strengthen its resolve in this direction.
12 countries take action on the West Bank
Duran also commented on the decision by 12 countries, including the United Kingdom, France and Canada, to ban trade with the occupied West Bank. He said the step was important because it showed that practices disregarding international law in the occupied Palestinian territories would not go unanswered.
The 12 countries announced the previous day that they intended to ban trade with the occupied Palestinian territories. Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry said it welcomed and supported the steps taken by those countries to ban trade and business relations with Israel’s illegal settlements in the West Bank.
