The Gaza government’s Media Office announced that Palestinian journalist Muhammad Abdulaziz al-Najjar, who worked for Quran Radio affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, was killed in an Israeli attack.
The Media Office said Najjar’s death brought to 263 the number of journalists killed in Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Call for international protection for journalists
The statement condemned the targeting and killing of Palestinian journalists and called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union and press organizations around the world to respond to the attacks.

The Gaza government’s Media Office said Israel, as well as states described in the statement as “countries participating in the genocide,” should be held responsible for the attacks.
The statement also called on the international community and relevant organizations to pressure Israel and protect journalists and media workers in the Gaza Strip.

According to the Nasser Medical Complex, al-Najjar was killed in an Israeli drone strike in al-Mawasi, north of Khan Younis. Reports said the 38-year-old was preparing a report on Quran memorization in Gaza when he was killed. He produced and presented religious programs at Quran Radio and served as imam of the Ibad al-Rahman Mosque in Khuza’a, east of Khan Younis. At least eight Palestinians, including al-Najjar, were killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza that day.
