The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah stated in a declaration on Sunday that Israeli occupation forces attempted to advance towards the strategic Ali Taher hills overlooking the city of Nabatiyeh in the south, and that its fighters confronted this attempt.
The statement noted that resistance fighters ambushed the Israeli occupation forces and responded with appropriate weapons. It was stated that this clash resulted in casualties among the regime's forces.
The movement recorded that the incident occurred overnight as Israeli forces attempted to infiltrate the area 'under the cover' of the ceasefire that came into effect on Friday.
In its statement, Hezbollah said, 'While the Islamic Resistance continues to adhere to the ceasefire, it will not be lax in confronting the enemy's attempts to occupy territory or expand its occupation.'
However, it was emphasized that Israel began violating the ceasefire from its earliest moments.
Just hours after Hezbollah and Israel announced a renewed ceasefire, the regime's attacks across southern Lebanon reportedly killed at least 16 people, including two children, according to Lebanese civil defense and media reports.
Reports from southern Lebanon indicate that Israeli warplanes carried out multiple airstrikes and artillery attacks after the ceasefire went into effect.
These deadly attacks came despite a recently announced preliminary agreement between Tehran and Washington, which stipulates that ending Israel's attacks on Lebanon is an integral part of any deal.
