Iran's Minister of Economy and Finance Seyyid Ali Medenizade declared that attacks on the country's economy will not succeed. Speaking to state television, the minister said that a hybrid war encompassing military, cyber and economic operations is being waged against Iran.
Medenizade stated that enemy countries are trying to harm Iran's military security as well as the people's living conditions and the national economy. "The enemies will take their dreams of the collapse of the Iranian economy to the grave," the minister said, emphasizing his belief that the Iranian people can withstand these pressures.
Announcing that the government has prepared an economic resilience program for the next two years, Medenizade called on citizens not to worry and guaranteed that the country would not be harmed. The minister also rejected claims that Iran's banking system is on the verge of bankruptcy or that the state cannot finance the budget, and said that who is spreading such discourse and for what purpose will be disclosed to the public in the coming period.
Medenizade added that the Iranian administration is prepared for any kind of economic action against the country and has the necessary retaliation plans.
Iran is going through a period in which long-standing international sanctions have deepened economic problems. Following the US's restrictive measures, the country's export capacity has significantly shrunk, while factory closures and rising unemployment have been reported.
