In a statement responding to US attacks on Iran, Iranian Parliament National Security Commission spokesperson Ibrahim Rezaei said, "We seized the Strait of Hormuz by force, and we will protect it by force."
Rezaei made these remarks in a post on his X social media account on Sunday, referencing the US attacks.

A communications tower in Iran's Kerman province was reportedly targeted during the same attacks.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced that they had closed the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic until further notice, citing 'security instability caused by foreign interference.' The decision came amid a period of mutual military strikes between Tehran and Washington.
Tensions in the region continue to rise following the military conflict that began on February 28 between the US-Israel bloc and Iran. Although the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on June 18 and negotiations for a final agreement are ongoing under the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan, tensions have not subsided.
