Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian hosted Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev in Tehran. The meeting addressed deepening the strategic partnership between Iran and Russia and accelerating cooperation in areas such as energy, oil, gas, petrochemicals, industry, basic commodity trade, and the development of transit corridors.
Pezeshkian described the Russian official's visit as a sign of determination to implement the agreements. "We expect these agreements to move from the negotiation phase to the operational phase as soon as possible," the Iranian president said, stressing that the highest level of political will exists, including from Russian President Vladimir Putin, and therefore any slowdown in the projects is unacceptable.
The Iranian president said that expert working groups should be established for each joint project. He noted that these groups, with the participation of relevant institutions and embassies, would monitor the projects on a daily basis and remove any obstacles as quickly as possible.
"Iran and Russia are each other's strategic partners and trusted friends," Pezeshkian said, adding that the implementation of projects must be accelerated in proportion to the existing capacities, political will, and the status of the two countries.
Pezeshkian also thanked the high-level Russian delegation that attended the funeral of the Islamic Revolution's martyred leader in Iran. He said the supportive stance of the Russian government and people, as well as President Putin, on international platforms was commendable.
Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev, for his part, expressed his pleasure at meeting the Iranian president and conveyed Putin's warm greetings. Emphasizing Moscow's strong will to implement the joint agreements, Tsivilev stated that special working groups have been formed for each project.
"Our goal is to achieve concrete and practical results from joint cooperation and to show that we are on the right track in developing the strategic relations between Iran and Russia," Tsivilev said, also touching on the positive view of the Russian public and officials toward Iran.
Tsivilev said, "In Russia, Iran's independent stance and resistance to external pressure are respected. We are proud to have trusted friends like Iran."
The Russian minister said, "Just as Iran resisted bullying and external pressure, Russia will never bow to power-based policies."
