A significant success has come from Iran's scientific community. The Royan Institute, operating in the country, has managed to rank among the top 10 research centers globally in the field of male infertility research.
Institute President Abdolhossein Shahverdi announced the results of a scientometric analysis study published in the journal Andrologia in 2020. The study, titled "Scientometric Analysis of Scientific Publications on Male Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Technologies," evaluates scientific outputs over a two-decade period. According to the study, the Royan Institute placed ninth among the world's 10 most effective centers.
Shahverdi regarded this result as a great success for Iran. He emphasized that roughly three decades of steady and dedicated scientific work had led to this kind of international recognition.
The institute head also noted that the achievement was due not only to the researchers' efforts but also to the long-term support given to the institution. He stated that the trust and encouragement provided by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei had been influential in this process.
