Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi said in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York that they aim to establish new routes for oil exports and expand the country's energy corridors.
Al-Zaidi announced that they are working on corridors extending to global markets through Türkiye, Jordan and Syria. He said developing energy routes and transport links would strengthen Iraq's energy security and diversify its supply routes.
Regional participation in the Development Road
The Iraqi prime minister said they want to open the Development Road project to the participation of all neighboring and friendly countries. He said he believes economic interests will increase regional prosperity.
Transition from military cooperation to development
Al-Zaidi said relations with strategic partners would enter a new phase after the completion of the U.S.-led coalition forces' mission in Iraq.
Al-Zaidi said Iraq aims to transition from military cooperation to cooperation in the fields of economy and development, adding that they want to develop the country's energy and transport links in line with this approach.
