The Israeli army’s military operation in Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, continued for a sixth day. The forces continued raids in the city’s neighborhoods and nearby towns, while sending additional soldiers and military vehicles into the area around midnight.
Israeli forces entered several towns in Hebron Governorate and Al-Fawwar Camp, south of the city. The forces searched Palestinian homes and tightened military measures at the city’s entrances. Palestinians were stopped and searched at checkpoints around the city and subjected to ill-treatment.
Thousands of Palestinians displaced
Hebron Municipality said the operation had displaced 4,969 Palestinians from 780 families. Hundreds of Palestinians were forcibly displaced during the first two days of the operation, while homes, various other structures and commercial establishments were demolished.
Infrastructure in Hebron was damaged, some homes were turned into military headquarters and Israeli flags were hung on them.
85 Palestinians detained
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club announced that the Israeli army detained 85 Palestinians in Hebron Governorate between Friday and Monday.

The operation began on Friday after an attack carried out by two Palestinians. Two Israeli soldiers were killed and three were wounded in the attack. The two Palestinians who carried out the attack were later killed by the Israeli army.
Attacks increase in the West Bank and East Jerusalem
Attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem have increased since the war in the Gaza Strip began in October 2023. During this period, Palestinians were killed and detained, while homes and structures were demolished, mosques and vehicles were set on fire, agricultural land was damaged and farmers were prevented from reaching their fields.
Palestinians warn that these practices are paving the way for the formal annexation of the West Bank by Israel. Such a step would weaken the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state envisaged in United Nations resolutions.
At least 750,000 Palestinians were displaced following the establishment of Israel in 1948. The rest of the Palestinian territories were later occupied, and calls for withdrawal were rejected.
