Israeli forces demolished one home and detonated another on Wednesday in Beita, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. The homes belonged to Palestinian prisoners Ibrahim Abdul Karim Dawoud and Zakaria Mohammed Dawoud, Palestinian sources said.
Palestinian sources said the forces entered the town with military vehicles and bulldozers and forced residents of homes in its western area to evacuate before demolishing one of the homes, planting explosive charges in the other and detonating it. Each home covered about 150 square meters.
Israeli army releases footage of the blast
The Israeli army released footage showing its soldiers installing explosive charges inside the home, followed by the moment of the blast and rising smoke, as well as military bulldozers demolishing the other home. The army claimed that the homes belonged to Palestinians who had thrown explosive devices at its forces, while Palestinian sources said the forces arrested the two prisoners last January on allegations that they had carried out shooting attacks targeting the forces.
Thousands of structures demolished in the West Bank since October 2023
According to data from the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli authorities carried out 1,814 demolitions in the West Bank between October 7, 2023, and early October 2026, affecting 5,059 structures.
Human rights organizations describe the policy of demolishing the homes of Palestinian detainees’ families as collective punishment prohibited under international law.
