As efforts to form a government continue in Israel after the election, Naftali Bennett, leader of the Together Party, argued that Netanyahu had lost and announced that contacts had begun to establish an alternative government.
Addressing his supporters on Wednesday, Bennett said, "The people of Israel have spoken: Netanyahu lost, and the October 7 government must go home."
Bennett claimed that the bloc he described as the "coalition of evasion" had fallen from 68 to 50 seats, and said the election results could change. The Together Party leader said they would wait patiently for the final results to be announced.
Bennett said the leaders of the change bloc were holding talks and coordinating to form an alternative government. He said the structure to be established would define itself as "a Zionist government made up of a coalition of people who serve," adding that it would govern the state responsibly and serve all the people of Israel.
Exit polls show no majority
As seat projections from Israel's exit polls were updated, different results emerged for Netanyahu's bloc and the bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar Party. No bloc reached the 61 seats needed to form a government in the 120-seat parliament.

According to the latest data from Israel's Channel 12, Netanyahu's bloc won 52 seats and Eisenkot's bloc won 49, while the Arab lists held 19 seats. Updates from Israel's public broadcaster and Channel 13 showed the two blocs with 51 seats each and gave the Arab lists 18 seats.
Channel 12 projected 12 seats for Bennett's Together Party. The public broadcaster's and Channel 13's samples projected the party winning 13 seats.
Turnout reaches 77.7%
Israel's Election Committee announced on Tuesday evening that turnout was 77.7%. The figure was 7.1 percentage points higher than in the 2022 election and represented the highest turnout recorded since 1999.
Polling stations closed at 10 p.m. local time, and vote counting began. The seat distributions in the exit polls do not represent the official election results.
